March '08 - May '08

I haven’t updated in a while so here goes:

March ‘08

This month was pretty uneventful. :D

I went out drinking a few times, but other than nothing worth mentioning.

I also received my bonus from work and I pretty much spent it on clothes, supplies & video games.  There is a shopping outlet 30 mins from my house called “Tanger Mall” so it was pretty convenient to go shopping.  Yea what can I say March was pretty uneventful.

April ‘08

April was a busy month.  April start off with Jeannie’s Bday party @ Catwalk (4/5/08).  We eventually found our way to PLAYERS 2 and did karaoke.  Jeannie steadily got drunk as evidenced by this picture…  It was fun times.  Happy bday you.

The following week I had to work @ the NYC ComicCon (4/18-4/20).  I had to work on Saturday but Friday & Sunday were pretty fun.  I ended up getting a lot of free stuff… like a shiny copy of “LOST” & FF7: Cloud.  I also sat through a lot of interesting panels on video game journalism and Jenna Jameson’s new comic.  BTW I met Jenna Jameson… she’s pretty in real life. *ahem* :D

I also saw the Forbidden Kingdom with JK.  Good movie.

The weekend after (4/25/08) I went to FOXWOODs with Eric.  We ended up losing roughly $200 each… but it was still a good experience.  I usually don’t lose, I blame Eric for my bad luck :D  Just kidding.  As soon as I got back from Foxwoods I hopped on the China town bus for boston.  It was Brian’s birthday party in Boston.  It ended up just being dinner and drinking. Nothing crazy.

4/30 was the Marvel Iron Man screening.  Great movie!

May ‘08

May 10th was Jenn’s Bridal Shower.

May 23 – May 25 was Jenn’s Wedding.  Obviously this was a big deal but im too lazy to write about it.  Lets just say it went very well and I’m very happy for her.  I had a lot of extended family over and I slept on the floor. L

I guess that’s it in a nutshell… or what I can remember…

until next time!!

2.23.08 Update

WTF happened to xanga?   They made some intense changes….  It’s complicated as hell.

Anyways, I’ve been busy with work and my side projects.  Work is the usual 9AM – 6PM, M-F.  If you didn’t know already I started a new website.  www.wrixel.com.  Its a little side project I do for fun.  I had initial started the website thinking I could maintain it during weekends and after work, but it actual takes much more work than I had initial anticipated.  I’ve learned a lot about html coding, and Blogs in general so I don’t think it was a waste of time.  If found a lot of cool art for my website and I’d figure I would share some with you:

Good Old School Ninja Turtles.  Here is the link to the artist.

This reminded me of Kenshin back in the day...

I’m still working at Marvel but I’m trying not to “drink too much of the company cool-aid”.  I’m doing a lot of side projects.  I’ve been writing and looking into voice classes.  Apparently there is a large demand for voice talent on the radio/internet/ commercials.  I figure I’d give it a try.

If you know me then you know I usually operate according to my "things to do list"  (below).  I think it’s become an obsession where I would try to get everything off my list done in a day... when I know it cant be... then I would go to sleep all annoyed.

Yea i think I need to chill with my so called "things to do lists"

I also went snowboarding with my bro and my favorite sister in law.  It was definitely a great time.  I suck @ snowboarding but I’m still learning!   Check out my board ^^.  It’s a unique VENOM design… Aighttt.

Until next time.

Thanksgiving was pretty good this year.  I got out of work on Wednesday around 4pm and I met up with John & Chris.  We bought tickets to watch the new movie called “HITMAN” at the Times Square AMC Theater.   It’s an action movie based off a video game, so we figured it would be a fun time for all.  Eric said he would come a little later so we had time to kill before the movie.  Instead of wasting time wander around Times Square we went to Dave & Busters.  We got about $20 on a card and played almost every game they had.  ie: Time Crisis 4, House of the Dead, & some weird Alien Shooter.  We also played a cool game, which was kind of like jeopardy.  I helped Chris answer and he got first place…bastard.  After the movie, which was decent, we went to go eat in Ktown.  We got ox-tail soup @ a palce called Gam Me Oak.

My brother was still in the city so I caught a ride home with him.  Once we got home, my brother and I started our “WII Project”.  It turns out that the demand for Nintendo Wii is still greater than the supply.  On average you could sell a Wii on ebay for roughly $150 above retail.  We managed to get our hands on a couple Wiis and put them up on EBAY.  WOW, these things sell like hot cakes.

The next morning everyone pretty much bummed around, talked, and played video games.  Jane & Jenn spent most of the morning going over wedding photos and just talking.  My brother and Dave played Xbox360.  My brother beat both me & Dave in Madden 08 so we both had to do 30 pushups (easy for me ^^).  Jenn played Guitar hero 3 and loved it.  Benji & I chilled in the garage for a bit and ponder what this amazing ordor all over the house was…(turkey)  Benji was going nuts, it was funny.  We ate so much turkey and ham!  My brother ate so much he “almost” clogged the toilet…I don’t wanna embarrass him so ill just leave it @ that.  Jane & Chris left after dinner because my brother had to work.

On Friday, Jenn, dave & I decided to take advantage of the black Friday deals.  We ended up getting these cheap Sansa 2GB mp3 players, a wireless keyboard (which I’m using right now) and a new printer/scanner.  It was a mad house in bestbuy, circuit city and toysrus.  We didn’t wake up @
5 am but I’m glad we didn’t.  All of the amazing deals were gone but I’m happy with what we got.   Jenn & Dave left right shopping so things went back to normal.

All things considered it was a good weekend.
btw i thought this Japanese fanta commercial was hilarious.

I just got back from a business trip from Memphis.  It was an interesting experience and although I didn't want to go @ first, I'm glad I did.  The people are much nicer down south and everything just seems simpler.

I woke up on Thursday, Sept. 27 @ 5AM.  This was especially hard because I was still recovering from a lingering cold and I still had NYQUIL in my system.  I need to thank my mom because she drove me to the train station @ 5:20 AM.  She's always been a trooper and has always helped me whenever I need it.

Moving on, I took the LIRR to the city and then took the North East Corridor Line to Newark International Airport.   This NE Corridor train ride and Newark brought back some good/bad memories that I had forgotten.  Last time I was at Newark I guess I didn’t say or do everything I wanted to…Sometimes I wish I had done something different…

Anyway, Once I got to the airport I meet up with Ed (my boss) and we took the plane to Detroit.  Our flight wasn’t too bad but Ed kept waking me up every 10 minutes when I was trying to sleep.  We landed in Detroit and then transferred to another flight to Memphis.  After all the transfers and time zone changes we touched down around 2PM.  It was pretty excruciating flying for so long.

We then rented a car and drove to the hotel.  We ate @ Chic-Fil-A and then straight to the warehouse/factory to do a cycle inventory count of our comics.  We ate around 3pm and go to the Diamond Warehouse around 4pm.  We got to the warehouse and talked to the manager, Shawn.  We then walked around the floor and rode forklifts to do our audit.

I was paired with a guy named Marcus.  We had a heavy southern accent and it was hard to understand him at times, but we got along pretty well.  He told me about his work shift and how it starts @ 5pm to 4AM.  That’s intense…  The warehouse was HUGE and has EVERY single comic/action figure/poster in the WORLD… I have videos to prove it.  If you ever saw Indiana Jones, raiders of the lost arc…at the end of the movie they put the arc in storage.  The warehouse looked like that scene.

We ended around 10 PM.  We then went to go eat and check out the city.  We drove around for a while because Ed got lost.   Good thing for my innate sense of direction or we would’ve been driving around all night.

We found the city but it was pretty tame.  There was one street called Biele street that was AWESOME.  It had all these Jazz musicians and bars straight down the block.  Jazz musicians were playing in the street and bars were blasting BB King/Elivs.  Ed bought me a beer and we drank for a bit.  It was a little funny, I had a few “American Pie”ish awkward moments but it was fun.  After we drank for a bit we headed back to the hotel.  This was around 12Am.  Our flight was @ 8:30 AM so we had to get up around 6:30.  Another painful morning.  Ed had failed to tell me that he arranged for a morning call @ 6:20.  I was scared shitless when my phone went berserk.  We caught our flight and came back to Jersey.

One thing I forgot to mention is that I was the ONLY Asian guy in the whole state.  People kept looking at me, not in a bad or evil way, but more in a curious nature.  It was kind of weird.   After we got back they made us come in to work for like 3 hours…. Go figure.  Its been a long week, but MY new computer just got in and I’m pretty happy.  Im now rocking DUAL screens.  If you have never tried it, I have to tell you… its AWESOME.

Ok the end. Peace.

Enjoy the pictures.

The car we rented, NITRO?  it was diesal.

The warehouse filled with comics, etc.

Boxes of comics....sometimes i get so sick of this crap =P
